NIIMBL invites members to submit an abstract for a poster presentation planned for the 2024 National Meeting being held at the Capital Hilton, June 25-27, 2024.  The NIIMBL National Meeting is a members-only hybrid event designed to drive substantive and meaningful discussions on topics relevant to the challenges facing the biomanufacturing community with a goal of moving the needle towards innovation and change.

The National Meeting program will be comprised of poster presentation sessions where our community can highlight projects, programs and innovative technologies in a digital format.  The poster presentations have two components - a one-minute Lightning Talk and PPT slide delivered following a designated plenary session, and a poster presentation at a designated evening reception.

Poster submitters should provide an abstract that aligns with one of the categories below:

General Technical / Workforce Development Poster – submit an abstract highlighting innovative technologies and case studies that address the challenges and needs of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing community and stimulate conversations around innovation and change. These topics might include, for example, purification of complex proteins, manufacturing of viral vectors and vaccines, novel approaches to cell therapies, and big data applications.  (A limited number of workforce development posters will also be chosen to be presented during the general poster session – see below).

NIIMBL Project or Program Poster (by invitation only) - submit an abstract highlighting specific NIIMBL Projects, and NIIMBL Programs. Invitations for this poster presentation type will be sent to each open NIIMBL Project needing to fulfill their contractual agreement of a presentation at the National Meeting and to NIIMBL program leads. Respective project PIs will receive an invitation from Ruben Carbonell, NIIMBL Poster Chair.

  • Please identify your poster title beginning with the Project ID #.  The project team may collaborate on the submission of the poster electronically, but the principal investigator much present the poster.

Small-to-Medium Manufacturers Poster - submit an abstract highlighting how your company is changing the landscape of biopharmaceutical manufacturing with sufficient quantitative detail to determine the potential impact of your technology. This opportunity is limited to Tier 3 Industry member organizations.
Workforce/Talent Poster – submit an abstract highlighting innovative approaches to education, training, workforce development, and talent acquisition within our member community. This includes, but is not limited to academic programs, professional development programs and services, regional talent development and recruiting efforts, diversity-focused initiatives, case studies, and other biopharmaceutical manufacturing workforce initiatives of interest to NIIMBL’s member ecosystem.  A limited number of workforce development posters will be chosen to present during the general poster session described above.

To ensure a diverse and engaged community of participants, NIIMBL will select posters based on overall quality, diversity of focus, and alignment with the meeting program.  Following last year's successful format, accepted posters will be displayed on monitors using a digital platform. Additionally, poster presenters will be invited to give a Lightning Talk (a short pitch) following a designated plenary session.

PLEASE NOTE: A Principal Investigator identified as the "Poster Presenter" in this submission will be required to attend the National Meeting, deliver a one-minute quick pitch and present the poster.  Neither post-doctoral nor graduate students may present the poster nor attend the National Meeting in-person; virtual attendance is contingent on signing the NDA found in the graduate student registration form.

The deadline for submission is March 1, 2024, 11:59 pm. Acceptances will be announced at the end of March.  All questions can be directed to Ruben Carbonell, NIIMBL National Meeting Poster Chair, at communications@niimbl.org

Please limit the abstract to 400 words.
