Purpose
The purpose of this program is to enhance access to the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry for all college students who are U.S. citizens residing in the United States, completing their first or second year of study. This is achieved through tours, hands-on learning, and personal engagement. Additionally, the program also aims to foster professional growth among participants by offering opportunities for personal brand development, networking, and mentoring.
Learning Goals
- Create an awareness of the different types of jobs and careers within the biopharmaceutical manufacturing space through these week-long experiences
- Meet employees at different types of organizations and hear “how I got to this job” stories
- Encourage the students to pursue education that leads to internships and employment in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Exposure to 3+ roles at sites that are critical to the delivery of site goals/products. 3+ sites across the product development lifecycle
- Each student to develop a personal brand statement (program start/onboarding) and increase competency/practice execution
Eligibility Criteria
- Students with a status of Freshman or Sophomore or 60 credits or less and actively enrolled in a degree program.
- Participation is limited to U.S. citizens residing in the United States.
- Student must be 18 years of age by June 1, 2026.
- Commitment to sharing your eXperience with your peers.
- Travel will be to and from your home location only.
- This is a week-long full immersion program that requires 100% commitment and attendance.
- Please note: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students are not eligible for participation in the NIIMBL eXperience due to federal funding restrictions.
Timeline
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM (ET) on February 05, 2026.
Letters of Recommendation are due by 5:00 PM (ET) on February 10, 2026.
Application Requirements
As part of your application to the NIIMBL eXperience program, you will need to plan on submitting:
- 4 Short Responses. You will be expected to submit four short responses (100 words maximum). Note: Topics for questions include how does this opportunity align with your academic or career interests, tell us about a time you stepped outside your comfort zone to learn something new, what do you want to learn/hope to gain during experience week, if you could explore any topic in biopharmaceuticals, what would it be and why.
- Proof of Identification/Citizenship. See Proof of Identification/Citizenship section for more details.
- Photo Release. Selected students will be asked to sign a photo release form upon selection.
- Resume / Structured Activities List
- No other commitments
- Unofficial Transcripts
- Letter of Recommendation. The email to the recommender will include a template, please provide the name and email address of your recommender as part of your application.
- Open to U.S. citizens residing in the United States.
Please note: Each student will be evaluated on questions, resume, transcripts, and letter of recommendation.
Proof of Identification/Citizenship
To ensure each eXperience student is paid the honorarium, we need the following information:
- Students must be U.S. citizens residing in the United States to participate in the program.
- Please note: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students are not eligible for participation in the NIIMBL eXperience due to federal funding restrictions.
Students are required to upload one of the following forms of identification:
- REAL ID state-issued driver's license or identification card from the U.S. that are compliant or have an extension. See the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) site for the current compliance list.
- Valid passport or passport card
- Military Dependents ID
- TSA Trusted Traveler ID
Please Note: Students who carry "Limited Licenses" cannot participate in the NIIMBL eXperience due to background clearance issues.
To process honorarium payments, Social Security numbers and current addresses (effective June 1) will need to be provided to the organization leading the eXperience program in which you will be participating.
